Proverbs 3:27
My view from "The Chair" this morning -Proverbs 3:27. Strolling into a fourth grade classroom this morning, I came to a solid halt as my eyes fell to the floor and I watched a Precious One gently slide out of her fourth grade chair and scoot over to where one of her classmates was struggling to figure out how to even start picking up the mess called "His Desk" off the floor. Without a word, she started gathering all his notebook papers together. When their eyes met, she just smiled at him and kept working. He was overwhelmed, but she provided that gentle assurance that everything would be okay. As I stood in the classroom, another student stomped over and demanded, "Why are you helping him?" Her response was so simple, yet profound. She responded with, "Because I can." They finished up and the Precious One returned to her seat. As I sauntered down the hall and back to my office, those words, "Because I can" replayed over and over in my head. I had just read Proverbs 3:27 this morning and the Lord graciously provided a glimpse of this truth through this brief field trip into a classroom. To be shown truth by a ten year old, is a powerful thing. It will leave an indelible picture etched in my mind for the rest of my life. Lord, may our eyes be open to the opportunities you give us to help those in front of us. Today, how will you choose to "do good" to those in front of you who have a need?
