Copy of Knees to the Earth; Hands to the Sky - Psalms 65:4
Stepping onto this stunning street with my “Camera Buddy” a sense of awe overtook me. My heart was soooo grateful that God, in His infinite wisdom thought up trees, leaves, seasons, and colors. I just couldn’t help myself. I needed to feel the crispy leaves; smell the scent of them; and experience them dancing around me on the wind that was swirling. I wanted to thank Him for making this street and the beauty that I was taking in. Finding myself on my knees with handfuls of leaves, I raised them as an offering and let the wind catch them in a beautiful dance through the chilled atmosphere. Can I be honest? It was a highlight of my Fall.
Lifting my hands is a demonstration of the surrender and gratefulness of my heart. My hands (and yours) don’t control themselves. They are controlled by our brains. We get to choose whether to lift our hands or not. Like a child with their arms extend toward their Daddy, my posture is saying, “I need you! I’m thankful that you are my helper and provider.” Can I ask you a question? When was the last time so much gratefulness spilt from your lips and you took a knee, lifted your hands in order to further express it your praise to our Creator? Next time you are filled with awe and gratitude, go ahead and take a knee, lift your hands and use your voice. It will make Him smile!
