Unexpected Enticing Fragrance
Entering from a silent white world, the warmth of home wraps itself around me. Instantly I am in a race with my internal thermometer to remove all the excess clothing that was necessary for a walk on this stunningly beautiful snowflake decorated evening. Successfully disrobed down to a thin layer, I shuffle through the kitchen. Stopping midway I am overtaken by a tantalizing fragrance. Allowing my eyes to survey my surroundings, they are halted by this beauty. Her scent is prolific and as quick as a wink, I am reminded that Spring is coming. It feels like my Creator sent her ahead with that special message just for me. I am intoxicated by her aroma. Leaning like a drunken sailor on the counter, I cozy up close to this beauty and allow it’s fragrance to permeate the moment. I simply could not drink in enough.
Just like this Paperwhite Narcissus, I want my life to have a pleasant alluring aroma to the world, anyone else? When we enter a space, the fragrance of our lives should be drawing to those that are there. The fragrance of “Christ in us” should be palpable. I’m not talking about overdone perfume. Nor am I referring to obnoxious use of Christian-eze. I am referring to the intoxicating aroma of grace, love, forgiveness, and peace that Christ infuses in us as we live with Him each moment. It’s not a forced thing. It’s a byproduct of encountering His love, grace, and forgiveness first hand. It can’t help but spill out in our words; facial expressions; attitudes; and actions.
Lord, may we experience you in such a way that the aroma of your presence changes us and draws others to you. In Jesus Name, Amen
Until We Chat Again,
